Teaching his way into the green economy

Stephen Ritz, a teacher from the Bronx, has demonstrated how planting the seeds of empowerment can take at-risk primary and secondary school students into a future with skills, employment, self-confidence and most importantly the belief that they are in charge of their future. What this teacher has demonstrated is that from his classroom, he can help transform the community around the school from slums of unemployment to hopeful families by teaching his students real life skills that they can take anywhere - especially to college education and post-secondary employment! What I found jaw-dropping was the way the teacher integrated novel technologies into the students' experience and ultimately knowledge-building.
